The Tufts Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is a three-year categorical program with 29 residents per class. They offer exceptional training for careers in general medicine, medical subspecialties, academic medicine, and clinical investigation. The program is situated within a moderate-sized academic center that fosters a small close-knit community feel. At Tufts Medical Center, emphasis is placed on focused learning with inpatient subspecialty teams led by full-time attending physicians from various disciplines. Each team is overseen by one attending physician, and there are numerous subspecialty ambulatory blocks available.

A unique aspect of the program is that over 90% of the training takes place at the home institution. Residents have the opportunity to work with a diverse high acuity patient population and benefit from on-site continuity clinics. Tufts Medical Center boasts outstanding fellowship and job placements, with a history of 100% ABIM board passage rate for several years. Additionally, residents have access to excellent research opportunities and a unique medical education track within the program.
