The Tufts Medical Center Program offers a four-year residency program in Ophthalmology at the New England Eye Center/Tufts University School of Medicine. This program integrates clinical training, academic activities, and research opportunities. Residents have the chance to benefit from outside rotations at Lahey Clinic and the University of Albuquerque.
The residency program at Tufts Medical Center also provides fellowship opportunities in various subspecialty areas including medical retina, cornea, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmic reconstructive and orbital surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, and vitreoretinal disease and surgery.
Research training is a significant part of the department's mission, with opportunities for medical students to apprentice in labs at the Vision Research Laboratories (VRL) for a period ranging from three months to over a year. Research fellowship applications are encouraged by contacting individual faculty members or the Research Administrator.
