The University of Colorado Vascular Neurology Fellowship is a one-year ACGME accredited program designed to provide comprehensive training in the management of cerebrovascular diseases. The program encompasses various specialties including neurology, neurocritical care, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, interventional radiology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to vascular neurology care.

The curriculum includes rigorous training methods such as hands-on patient care in multiple settings, including Emergency Departments, inpatient and outpatient clinics, and telemedicine within external EDs and the Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit. Weekly didactic sessions and bi-monthly multidisciplinary conferences are part of the training, aiding fellows in acquiring advanced knowledge and research in the field of vascular neurology 1.

Clinical Rotations and Experience

Fellows participate in ongoing clinical cerebrovascular trials active at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) or affiliated health institutions. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are required to complete an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC/CFPC-accredited residency program in either neurology or child neurology. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in neurology or other related specialties to qualify for this fellowship. The program participates in the NRMP Match, and all applications must be submitted through ERAS 1.

Application Process and Requirements

The application process involves submitting a CV, three letters of recommendation (including one from the applicant's Program Director), a personal statement, as well as USMLE/COMLEX scores. Additionally, ECFMG certification is necessary for all international medical graduate (IMG) applicants, as the program only sponsors J-1 visas 1.
