University of Kentucky College of Medicine (Bowling Green) Program

The University of Kentucky (Bowling Green) Internal Medicine Residency Program at The Medical Center in Bowling Green is a 36-month program that trains physicians in Internal Medicine. They aim to equip residents with a strong knowledge base for Hospital Medicine, Primary Care, or further specialization in a medicine subspecialty fellowship.

The program accepts seven internal medicine residents annually, totaling 21 residents. It is structured to provide advanced training in internal medicine, leading to board certification. The curriculum includes rotations in General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Night Float, Critical Care, and various subspecialties.

Applicants must be graduates of LCME-accredited medical schools, AOA COCA-accredited medical schools, or internationally accredited medical schools. USMLE Steps 1 and 2 or COMLEX equivalent are required prior to interview invitations. Preferred qualifications include USMLE scores of 215 and above on each step or COMLEX scores of 450 and above on each step, with no failures.

The program participates in ERAS for applications and the NRMP for matching. International medical graduates must have ECFMG certification. The program accepts applications from individuals with a Green Card for permanent residency and those willing to have a J-1 visa sponsored by the ECFMG.

Interviews are conducted between October and December, with invitations sent via email. The interview process includes meetings with program staff, facility tours, and interactions with current residents at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
