University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Program

The University of Oklahoma Radiation Oncology residency program is a comprehensive four-year training program accredited by the ACGME, having received continued accreditation with commendation in 2024. This program is initiated at the PGY-2 level, requiring applicants to have completed an internship at an ACGME accredited program of their choice prior to acceptance, which aligns with the American Board of Radiology's criteria for board eligibility.

The residency takes place primarily at the Stephenson Cancer Center, one of the premier cancer treatment facilities in the country. Curriculum and Rotations

These include LINAC-based external beam radiation therapy techniques, such as 2D, 3D, Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT). Additionally, the program offers intensity-modulated proton therapy (the only pencil beam IMPT service in the state), total body irradiation, Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and various forms of brachytherapy.

Training Sites

In addition to the Stephenson Cancer Center, residents train at the VA Medical Center, which is conveniently located within walking distance. This collaboration enhances the breadth of clinical exposure and treatment experience.
