This demonstrates the program's ability to equip residents for a diverse range of medical specialties.

Accreditation

The program boasts full accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for a term of ten years, the maximum duration granted. This recognition affirms the high standards of training and education provided within the residency program, positioning it as a competitive option for aspiring residents.

2

Application and Competitiveness

Applicants must be aware that the SSM Health St. Anthony Transitional Year Residency is competitive. The program specifically requires passing scores on USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1, with minimum scores of 194 and 400 respectively. A crucial consideration for applicants is the policy on failed board exams; the program will not accept candidates who have failed any board examination more than once. Eligible applicants must also have graduated from medical school within twenty-seven months of the anticipated residency start date. Applications can be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) starting in September, with a submission deadline of November 1st.

4

Research and Didactic Training

Residents are actively involved in research, split across two dedicated two-week blocks. During these periods, residents formulate research questions using the PICO format, preparing presentations and contributing to clinical discussions. Didactic training includes participation in monthly Morbidity and Mortality meetings, Ethics discussions, and Grand Rounds lectures shared with Family Medicine residents. Furthermore, monthly Journal Club meetings provide a forum for in-depth analysis of current medical literature with guidance from seasoned faculty.
