Wellstar Health System/Wellstar Cobb Hospital Program

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wellstar Cobb Medical Center is designed to immerse residents in a comprehensive educational experience that blends personalized, hands-on instruction with diverse patient interactions. The Wellstar Cobb Internal Medicine Residency is considered moderately competitive, welcoming applications from U.S. medical schools, Canadian schools, and international medical graduates (IMGs). The program supports applicants with valid U.S. Permanent Resident Cards or J1 Visas, specifically for international graduates; however, Wellstar does not sponsor H1-B visas.

Application Requirements

Potential candidates must fulfill specific application requirements, including:

• U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
• U.S. college of osteopathic medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
• Graduate or pending graduate of medical schools outside U.S. or Canada must have completed a Fifth Pathway program or possess a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate.
• All applicants must qualify for a full or unrestricted education limited license in Georgia.

Additionally, candidates must provide three letters of recommendation, a personal statement, a current curriculum vitae, and an official medical school transcript.
