Abrazo Health Network Program

The Abrazo Health Network Transitional Year Residency Program is a one-year ACGME-accredited program accepting up to 13 residents annually. The primary site for this program is Abrazo West Campus, a Level I Trauma Center located in Goodyear, AZ. Residents rotate through services such as Medicine, ER, ICU, Surgery, CCU, and Inpatient Cardiology, among others. Residents also fulfill their ambulatory rotation experience at Abrazo Medical Group clinics.

The program values unopposed training, strong procedural skills, excellence in quality improvement, evidence-based medicine, and grassroots innovation. Highlights of the program include access to Midwestern University's library and simulation lab, dedicated educational spaces, meal provisions, and various allowances and benefits.

Application to the Transitional Year Residency Program at Abrazo Health is done through ERAS, and the program only accepts applications from U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. They participate in the NRMP Match.

Faculty members include Dr. Paden Hendrickson as the Program Director, Dr. Leslie Easley as Core Faculty, and Dr. Michael Castro as Core Faculty and Associate Program Director, among others.

The residency offers a salary for Transitional Year residents and benefits such as medical and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, employee retirement plan, and more. Certification courses like ACLS and BLS are covered by Abrazo.
