Beaumont Health (Trenton and Dearborn) Program

The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton and Dearborn is a three-year program accredited by ACGME. The program aims to provide exceptional academic and clinical training to develop emergency medicine physicians to serve the communities. Residents will have the opportunity to work with 72 board-certified emergency physicians, gaining a wealth of different perspectives and expertise. Successful completion of the program leads to eligibility for board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Applicants must be eligible to graduate from an accredited medical school and have passed COMLEX Levels 1 & 2 on the first attempt. Application requirements include submitting official transcripts, a curriculum vitae, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and a letter from the medical school dean. The program only reviews applications submitted through ERAS by October 1.

The curriculum includes rotations at Beaumont Trenton and Dearborn sites, as well as at other medical facilities like Beaumont Royal Oak and DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan. The didactic sessions cover a range of topics including toxicology, simulation labs, and EM Department meetings.

Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn is an ACS Level 2 Trauma Center with 92,500 ED visits/year, while Beaumont Hospital in Trenton is also an ACS Level 2 Trauma Center with 38,000 ED visits/year. Both hospitals offer various specialties and services to provide a comprehensive training experience for residents.
