Corewell Health – Grand Rapids/Michigan State University Program

The Corewell Health Interventional Radiology Residency program, affiliated with Michigan State University, offers a comprehensive five-year training program focusing on both diagnostic and interventional experiences. The program provides exposure to a wide range of image-guided procedures, including oncologic, musculoskeletal, vascular, thromboembolic, and palliative/pain interventions.

With an optimal case volume to trainee ratio, residents receive hands-on experience to excel as attending physicians. The program accepts three residents per year. Spectrum Health is the largest hospital system in West Michigan and offers diverse patient populations across a 13-county area.

The Corewell Health program's facilities include Butterworth Hospital, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion, and Blodgett Hospital. Residents have ample research opportunities, with support for presenting at national meetings and publishing manuscripts.

Application requirements for the program include three letters of recommendation, a personal statement, USMLE/COMLEX Step 1 and Step 2 scores, and eligibility for U.S. work authorization or J-1 status.

The program's faculty comprises 14 full-time interventional radiologists with over 100 years of combined experience. The faculty's diverse backgrounds and experience contribute to a unique private practice and academic hybrid environment that prepares residents for various career paths beyond residency.
