Danbury Hospital Program

The Danbury Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program is a four-year ACGME-accredited program with the goal of developing compassionate obstetricians and gynecologists. The program emphasizes broad clinical exposure, conscientious faculty supervision, progressive levels of responsibility, and special projects in critical thinking.

Residents can expect to be integrated into a culture of patient safety and engage in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The program offers experiential learning in a state-of-the-art hospital with cutting-edge technology, team-based learning, and clinical simulations.

The curriculum includes protected didactic time for weekly educational conferences covering various topics. Residents participate in activities such as Gynecologic Oncology Tumor Boards, Case Review Conferences, High Risk Obstetrics Rounds, Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, and Journal Club sessions.

Research opportunities are available to residents, with support provided for conducting clinical research studies and interpreting published literature. Residents can present their projects at scientific meetings and publish manuscripts.

The program offers resources such as simulation center training, competitive salary, annual paid time off, professional liability insurance, access to library resources, and funding for academic presentations. Wellness initiatives are also a focus, including peer support, therapy dog visits, wellness day, and an annual resident retreat.

Danbury Hospital participates in the National Resident Match Program for its three categorical PGY1 OB/GYN residency positions. Interested applicants must submit their applications through ERAS by October 1st. The program typically receives around 500 applications, conducts virtual interviews, and requires specific application materials like dean's letter, transcripts, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and exam scores.

This program aims to prepare residents for general obstetrics and gynecology practice or further sub-specialty training, fostering physician leaders in women's health care and providing a comprehensive educational experience in a supportive environment.
