Maimonides Medical Center Program

The Radiology residency program at Maimonides Medical Center offers a comprehensive training experience with daily exposure to a high volume of imaging examinations and procedures. Residents have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population in Brooklyn, providing exposure to common and rare cases regularly. The program emphasizes resident education over productivity alone, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

The curriculum is designed to meet ABR and ACGME recommendations to produce skilled radiologists desirable to future employers. Residents receive training in diagnostic and interventional radiology, including specialized instruction in Radiology Physics. Third-year residents spend time at the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology for additional learning.

The program supports residents in achieving graded responsibility and independence over the four-year training period. Residents participate in research and quality improvement projects, with the opportunity to collaborate with faculty and contribute to workflow improvements. Regular evaluations and feedback help residents continually enhance their skills.

The residency program at Maimonides Medical Center aims to prepare residents for fellowship and practice, equipping them to handle a wide range of cases and challenges. With a focus on education, camaraderie, and hands-on learning, residents can expect a well-rounded training experience in diagnostic radiology.

The Department of Radiology at Maimonides Medical Center accepts applications for its residency program starting on September 15th each year. The fully accredited program offers 16 advanced radiology positions, with four PGY-1 advanced positions available annually. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected candidates are invited for interviews in late October and early November.

Applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation, a dean's letter, transcripts, and USMLE/COMLEX scores. Preference is given to United States Citizens and Permanent Residents. Applicants with visas must have a passing USMLE Step 3 result for consideration. The program does not accept paper applications and does not offer pre-matches.
