San Joaquin General Hospital Program
Surgery - French Camp, CA | ACGME Code: 4400512055 | NRMP Code: 1021440P1, 1021440C0
San Joaquin General Hospital's General Surgery Residency Program is a small, county hospital-based program. They graduate three chief residents each year along with accepting three preliminary interns annually. The program has a strong partnership between San Joaquin General Hospital (SJGH), St. Joseph's Medical Center (SJMC), and the University of California Davis Medical Center (UCD).
Residents at this program work with a mix of general and fellowship-trained surgeons across multiple specialties, including trauma/surgical critical care, vascular, hepatopancreaticobiliary, minimally invasive foregut, thoracic, cardiac, and colorectal surgery. They also have opportunities to engage in research and quality improvement work, with residents frequently publishing papers and presenting abstracts at various conferences.
The residency program emphasizes serving the underserved population of San Joaquin County and aims to reflect the diversity of the community in its residents. Due to its relatively small resident complement, residents develop close friendships and rely on each other for support and mentorship.
If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding experience in general surgery training, San Joaquin General Hospital's program might be suitable for you. Contact them for more information on applying.
Sincerely, Feroze Sidhwa, MD, MPH, FACS General Surgery Program Director San Joaquin General Hospital
