San Joaquin General Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program is a small and vibrant program that has been in existence since 1932. They offer a well-rounded education in both ambulatory and inpatient areas of General Internal Medicine. The program does not have any competing fellowship programs, allowing residents to focus on their training. Residents receive guidance from full-time faculty physicians and are given graduated responsibility during their inpatient rotations. The program also offers elective rotations at the University Of California campuses at San Francisco and Davis, as well as at Stanford University for comprehensive stroke management.
Application requirements for the program include an ERAS Application, Dean's Letter and Transcripts, 3 Letters of Recommendation, and a USMLE score of an average of 220 and above on first attempts. It is required that applicants have graduated from medical school within the three years prior to applying. International Medical Graduates must have a valid ECFMG Certificate, as the program does not sponsor any type of immigration visas. The program fills ten categorical positions through the NRMP.
