The Psychiatry Residency Program at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) offers a unique focus on community and addiction psychiatry. The program was accredited in 1978 and provides diverse experiences in academic and community settings. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through different clinical settings, including Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, SBELIH, Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Stony Brook University Hospital, Quannacut Outpatient Services, and more. This variety of settings prepares residents for their future practice in psychiatry.

Residents at SBELIH experience close relationships with supervising faculty and gain exposure to various treatments such as addiction medicine, psychotherapies, ECT, TMS, and esketamine for refractory depressive disorders. The small size of the program allows for personalized attention and support from faculty. The program also emphasizes resident feedback to continuously improve training experiences.

Located in the East End of Long Island, the program offers residents a balanced lifestyle with opportunities for wellness. The program director, Dr. Eduardo Constantino, highlights the effectiveness of the program in preparing residents for clinical and academic psychiatry practice. Dr. Constantino looks forward to welcoming interested candidates to experience the comprehensive training offered at SBELIH.
