As residents progress into their second and third years, they rotate through comprehensive areas such as Breast Imaging, Musculoskeletal Radiology, and Interventional Radiology, along with participation in advanced educational experiences such as the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology course during the third year.1

Throughout the residency, there are numerous rotations which are integral to training, including Emergency Radiology, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Vascular/Interventional Radiology. Notably, MetroHealth maintains a close collaboration with the Vascular Surgery division to enhance the learning experience in treating peripheral vascular disease.

The application process for the Diagnostic Radiology residency is facilitated through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS), and the program encourages applications from a wide variety of candidates, regardless of their medical school graduation year. Key application requirements include a completed application form, personal statement, dean’s letter, medical school transcript, and three letters of recommendation. Although there is no strict cutoff for USMLE scores, competitive candidates typically perform well on standardized exams. Consideration is given to all applicants without strict minimum score requirements.4
