University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Program

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Otolaryngology Residency Program is an ACGME-accredited five-year program for the clinical track and a seven-year program for the research track. The program aims to develop residents' skills in total patient care, critical thinking, and judgment. It offers training in various areas of clinical specialty, including pediatric otolaryngology, otology/neurotology, general otolaryngology and rhinology, head and neck oncology, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

The program supports residents in becoming investigators and scholars within the medical literature field. The department emphasizes a team-based approach to patient care and accepts five residents each year. The curriculum focuses on consistency and continuity in patient care.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics also offer a General Surgery internship year with a rotation through otolaryngology. The program aims to create physicians dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and to furthering knowledge and innovations in the field.
