The University of Miami/Jackson Health System Neuroradiology Fellowship is a one-year program that operates under the auspices of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). 1Fellows will immerse themselves in all subspecialties and modalities of neuroradiology, participating in the interpretation of neuroimaging studies, which includes brain, head and neck, and spine imaging. The program promotes a comprehensive educational experience through advanced imaging techniques such as angiography and image-guided procedures, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to ensure a high standard of training.
1Clinical Rotations
The curriculum includes rotations that cover general adult and pediatric radiology, head and neck radiology, neuro-intervention, and spine intervention. These experiences are designed to help fellows build independence in their skills while emphasizing the importance of procedural competence and patient care.
1Fellows are expected to engage in a wide range of procedures, including but not limited to, cisternography, digital subtraction angiography, minimally invasive spine procedures, myelography, spinal punctures, and neuroendovascular techniques. The fellowship also emphasizes the significance of research, as fellows are encouraged to submit their findings to national meetings and contribute to publications.
1Educational Goals and Training
The program's educational approach is structured around six core competencies: Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Medical Knowledge, Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Professionalism, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, and Systems-Based Practice. This framework ensures that upon completion, fellows are prepared for independent clinical decision-making in all facets of neuroradiology.
1Call Schedule and Clinical Exposure
The call schedule is designed to provide fellows with ample clinical exposure, averaging 10 to 11 weeks of on-call duty throughout the year. Generally, the call is conducted from home during the week, whereas weekends involve daily readouts with attending staff.

1Program Requirements
Eligibility for the fellowship necessitates completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Steps 1, 2, and 3, or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) Level 1 and 2 for Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) applicants. Candidates must also have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in diagnostic radiology or an equivalent credential in Canada, alongside obtaining Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification for international medical graduates.
