University of Wyoming (Casper) Program

The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program in Casper has been thriving for over 45 years, offering a community-based program with an 8-8-8 residency model. The program serves more than 10,000 patients annually, providing full-spectrum family medicine services for people of all ages. Clinical services include women's health, osteopathic medicine, sports medicine, behavioral health, x-ray and lab services, palliative care, geriatric care, internal medicine, medication management, case management, specialty clinics, patient education, and inpatient hospital care.

The program director, Dr. Brian Veauthier, emphasizes the training residents receive for rural and frontier family medicine. Residents have the opportunity to tailor their education with multiple tracks, including hospitalist and ER positions within family medicine. The program also focuses on osteopathic training and holds Osteopathic Recognition through the ACGME.

Application to the program is conducted through ERAS, with a deadline of December 1st. Requirements include a personal statement, three letters of recommendation, medical school transcripts, USMLE or COMLEX scores, and a Dean's letter. Applicants should be within two years of medical school graduation, ECFMG certified before July 1, and have at least one year of US clinical experience during medical school.

The residency program primarily sponsors the Canadian ECFMG-sponsored J-1 Visas. Interviews are conducted from October 15th through January 15th, with accommodations for alternate arrangements if necessary.
