The Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago Internal Medicine Residency Program offers a well-balanced curriculum that reflects the national trend in medicine, emphasizing patient care activities in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The program has supportive faculty members in both environments.

Residents receive training in outpatient settings at Laboure Clinic and a CommunityHealth free clinic, among other ambulatory sites. They participate in various ambulatory rotations such as geriatrics, emergency medicine, and primary care, gaining diverse experiences in different clinics and specialties.

The program fosters resident wellness through social outings, wellness activities organized by a dedicated committee, and individual recognition through awards and celebrations. After the MATCH season, resident mentors are assigned to incoming residents to ease their transition into the program.

For application, Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and requires submission of the ERAS common application form, medical school transcripts, USMLE or COMLEX transcripts, dean's letter, three letters of recommendation, personal statement, and ECFMG Status Report if applicable. The application deadline is November 1st.
