This is the content of the Greenfield Family Medicine Residency Program at UMass Chan- Baystate Health:
The Greenfield Family Medicine Residency program is the only Family Medicine program in Western Massachusetts. Based out of the Greenfield Family Medicine practice in Franklin County, residents will work with a team focused on preparing health professionals to care for under-served rural populations in the area.
The program aims to address important healthcare needs, especially in areas like Franklin County where specialists are less available. Residents will have the opportunity to impact the development of an innovative curriculum and contribute to the growth of the program for future family physicians in the region.
The core faculty members have extensive experience in community and academic medicine and have designed a curriculum that emphasizes outpatient medicine and resident well-being. The program integrates modern and progressive concepts of family medicine.
Residents will participate in Continuity Clinic from the first day of their training, caring for their own panel of patients with the guidance of faculty preceptors. The curriculum focuses on evidence-based outpatient medicine.
The program strives to create a supportive environment that promotes physician well-being. Opportunities include working closely with attending physicians, limited call responsibilities, and six months of elective time with flexibility to create tailored experiences.
It is worth noting that the Family Medicine residency at UMass Chan Medical School - Baystate is ACGME-accredited.
