The Pediatrics Residency Training Program at ECU Health Medical Center, part of East Carolina University, is designed to provide residents with a comprehensive blend of tertiary and primary pediatric care experiences. The Pediatrics Residency Program is known for being moderately competitive. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are encouraged to apply; however, certain criteria must be met, including successful completion of USMLE Step exams on the first attempt, and completion of a year of residency training in the US or Canadian medical systems. Additionally, the program primarily sponsors J-1 visas for international applicants, making it accessible to a wider pool of candidates.

Applicants must submit their applications through ERAS by December 31st and should include key documents such as letters of recommendation and medical school transcripts. Candidates are expected to have graduated from medical school within two years of applying. The program prioritizes highly competitive scores from both USMLE and COMLEX exams.

This environment ensures that residents are exposed to a broad spectrum of pediatric cases, enhancing their learning and preparedness for future practice.
