Program Overview

The ECU Internal Medicine Residency Program is designed to empower residents by emphasizing clinical excellence and comprehensive patient care. The training is exhaustive, comprising 96 residents from diverse backgrounds promoting a rich educational experience. The resident community includes 22 PGY-1 residents, categorized into 16 categorical interns and six preliminary interns, alongside participants in combined programs such as IM/Pediatrics, IM/Psychiatry, and IM/Emergency Medicine.

Residents gradually assume greater responsibility, transitioning from direct patient care to supervisory roles as they progress through PGY-2 and PGY-3.
