Lahey Clinic Program

Interventional radiology - independent - Burlington, MA | ACGME Code: 4152442005

The Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Diagnostic Radiology Residency program offers a comprehensive and collaborative training experience aimed at preparing residents to become skilled and confident radiologists. The program is a four-year training approved by the ACGME, leading to certification in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology. They offer an ESIR track and were accredited for an IR Independent Residency beginning in July 2020. An internship at an ACGME-accredited program is required before entering the program.

During the residency, residents gain proficiency in interpreting various diagnostic imaging modalities and performing interventional procedures. Residents work alongside attendings without fellows, except for a fellow in interventional radiology and breast imaging.

The program emphasizes hands-on training with a variety of advanced imaging technologies, including CT, MRI, PET-CT, 3D mammography, and state-of-the-art interventional and neurointerventional radiology suites. Residents also have access to a dedicated 3-D imaging laboratory for advanced subspecialty imaging training.

There are daily multidisciplinary conferences covering a range of specialties, including thoracic oncology, colorectal surgery, genitourinary, gynecologic oncology, and more. Residents are actively involved in these conferences, journal clubs, and teaching opportunities.

Requirements for application to the program include a personal statement, three letters of recommendation, transcripts, USMLE board scores (Step 1 required), and a Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE). The application deadline is November 1. The program accepts international graduates and can support a J-1 Visa.

For the 2023-2024 application cycle, interviews will remain virtual and will include an overview of the residency, meet-and-greet with current residents, and individual faculty interviews. The program also offers a sponsored track for applicants with external funding and salary from a sponsoring country.

For further details or inquiries about the interview process, applicants can contact Nancy Holden, the Program Coordinator of Diagnostic Radiology at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.
