Internal Medicine Residency Program Overview

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Lakeland Regional Health is dedicated to educating and training the next generation of Internal Medicine physicians. Located in one of the largest hospitals in Florida, with 910 beds and recognized for one of the busiest emergency departments in the United States, residents are exposed to a diverse patient population and a wide range of pathologies, enhancing learning opportunities in various medical conditions.

Curriculum and Rotations

Residents in the Internal Medicine program will undergo an extensive curriculum that includes a mix of hospital, outpatient care, and specialized rotations. The program emphasizes hands-on training through integrated experiences, including a unique Emergency Department-Hospital Medicine Admitting Rotation that allows residents to experience Level II Trauma acuity.

The curriculum also offers:

• Weekly Didactic Seminars: Protected time for education, including clinical conferences, simulations, and board preparation.
• Subspecialty Rotations: Residents gain exposure to various internal medicine subspecialties through a block scheduled approach, with opportunities to work alongside specialists.
