Florida State University College of Medicine Program

The Florida State University College of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program at BayCare Health System in Winter Haven aims to create compassionate, patient-centered family physicians who serve their communities. The program offers a diverse clinical experience from Sports Medicine to Women’s Health. The location in Winter Haven, Florida, provides a scenic environment close to lakes and outdoor activities, with easy access to Orlando and Tampa.

Application requirements for the program include a CV, three letters of recommendation, medical school transcripts, official USMLE or COMLEX transcripts, personal statement, MSPE or Dean's Letter, ECFMG Certificate for IMGs, a minimum of six months of U.S. clinical experience, and eligibility for a medical license in Florida. The program prefers applicants who pass USMLE Step 1 or Step 2CK on the first attempt with a score greater than 220, have at least one year of residence in the U.S., and graduated from medical school within three years of application.

The program does not support J-1 or H-1 visas and does not offer observerships. They do offer Family Medicine rotations for MS3 and MS4 students from accredited U.S. medical schools. Residents in the program have diverse backgrounds and professional interests ranging from Primary Care to Global Health.
