AdventHealth Wesley Chapel's Family Medicine Residency Program provides a comprehensive training experience for its residents, designed to develop proficient, compassionate family physicians capable of attending to the needs of diverse patient populations. Curriculum

The residency program features a longitudinal curriculum structured to provide progressive education over three years. Residents begin their training with a foundational emphasis on direct patient care in family medicine continuity clinics, which ramps up through the years, allowing for increased responsibilities in patient management.

During the first year (PGY-1), residents engage in:

• 1 to 2.5 days per week in Family Medicine Continuity Curriculum
• ½ day per week of didactic sessions focused on fundamentals of family medicine

In the second year (PGY-2), the schedule increases to:

• 2 to 3.5 days per week in Family Medicine Continuity Clinic
• ½ day per week of didactics

Finally, in the third year (PGY-3), residents participate in:

• 3 to 4.5 days per week in Family Medicine Continuity Clinic
• ½ day per week of didactics

The program also includes a longitudinal experience in serving underserved populations, aimed at enhancing residents' understanding of economic and social determinants of health.

Osteopathic graduates must:

• Have passed COMLEX Step I and II
• Hold a Doctor of Osteopathy diploma without reservations
• Provide proof of US citizenship or appropriate visa status

International medical graduates must meet similar standards, including passing USMLE Steps and securing ECFMG certification from an institution recognized by the program. The application process is managed through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS), and the program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
