The Ophthalmology Residency Program at the University of South Florida Morsani is a highly competitive program that matches 4 residents annually. The application process is through the central application service (CAS) of the San Francisco Matching Program (SF Match). The deadline for receipt of all materials from SF Match is October 15th, and interviews are conducted virtually in early December.
To be eligible, candidates must be graduates of medical schools in the United States and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), graduates of colleges of osteopathic medicine in the US accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), graduates of medical schools outside the US and Canada meeting specific qualifications, or graduates of medical schools outside the US who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME accredited medical school. All applicants must be eligible for a Florida Medical License.
The residency program at USF Eye Institute includes a comprehensive curriculum with an orientation course, didactic teaching programs, regional ophthalmology meetings, and mandatory annual research projects supervised by faculty. Residents are expected to conduct independent outside reading throughout the program.
