The University of South Florida (USF) Health Department of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery Residency Program is highly competitive, with 500-600 applicants vying for the annual positions. The program is accredited to train twelve residents (4 per year) and has remained fully staffed since its inception in 1980.

Applicants must be registered with the National Residency Match Program, and applications are accepted only through ERAS. Requirements include completing USMLE Step 1 before applying and Step 2 before entering residency training. D.O. applicants must also have taken the USMLE exams. A minimum of three letters of reference and a personal statement are required.

Interviews are conducted on the second Monday of January, and selected applicants will be notified by mid-December. The program hosts a Virtual Open House for interested applicants annually.

Residents at USF Health receive benefits such as pagers, access to the Shimberg Health Science Library, personalized lab coats, a competitive salary, insurance coverage, and various leave options, including vacation, conference leave, sick days, and maternity/paternity leave.
