Medical College of Georgia Program
Urology - Augusta, GA | ACGME Code: 4801221040
The Urology Residency Program at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University offers a fully accredited postgraduate training program. The program aims to prepare physicians to evaluate, understand, and manage medical and surgical aspects of genitourinary disorders.
Three applicants are selected through the resident match to enter the residency each year. The first post-graduate year (PGY-1) involves general surgical training, including rotations on the Urology service. The following years provide a split training experience between Augusta University Medical Center and the VA, with specific rotations in pediatric urology, adult urology, research, and female urology.
In the PGY-5 year, the chief resident spends most of the training at Augusta University Medical Center, participating in technically demanding surgical procedures and assuming considerable responsibilities for patient care and teaching. Night call is every third to fourth night during the week, with weekend call every third to fourth weekend.
