Medical College of Georgia Program

The General Surgery Residency program at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University aims to develop motivated, skilled, and compassionate surgeons who will become future leaders in their field. The program emphasizes academic achievement, operative excellence, and clinical proficiency. Residents benefit from a diverse clinical setting, including rural surgery rotations.

Application to the General Surgery Residency Program requires a desirable score of 210 and above on the USMLE Step I. Three letters of recommendation are required, and applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The program sponsors only J1 visas and does not require previous U.S. experience or set specific graduation date requirements. ECFMG certification is needed by the match deadline. The application deadline is February 1st annually.
