The General Surgery Residency Program at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center is a five-year program accredited by ACGME. They are approved to accept three new residents per year. The program offers broad exposure to general surgery cases with specialty rotations in vascular, pediatric, trauma, cardiothoracic, minimally invasive/robotic, and bariatric surgery.

For application requirements, candidates must submit a complete ERAS application that includes an official Dean's Letter, letters of recommendation, personal statement, CV, medical school transcript, and USMLE or COMLEX test scores. International Medical Graduate applicants should have U.S. health care experience, valid ECFMG certification, and passing board scores.
The residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program and considers applicants with U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or the ability to obtain an H-1B or J-1 Visa. Visa sponsorship is evaluated case-by-case and limited to exceptional candidates, with a preference for H-1B Visas.
