The Our Lady of The Lake Pediatric Residency Program in Baton Rouge is part of a vibrant and growing health system in Louisiana. Established to serve those most in need, the program provides a family-like atmosphere woven into its educational curriculum. The program emphasizes provider wellness, individualized mentorship, quality care, and diverse didactic curricula.

Application to the program requires:

  • Three letters of recommendation from medical school faculty or practitioners, with one from a pediatrician.
  • A one-page personal statement.
  • Transcripts of USMLE/COMLEX 1 and 2 exams.
  • Dean's letter.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Photo submission.

The program selects applicants based on preparedness, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities. All residents are expected to meet and maintain Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners requirements.

The program offers virtual interviews via Zoom, with interviews starting in October and going through January. The residents can anticipate a comprehensive and diverse curriculum, including various elective opportunities like advocacy, allergy-immunology, genetics, and quality improvement, among others.

Residents further engage in curriculum focusing on quality and safety, research and scholarly activity, and advocacy. They have the opportunity to participate in Community Medicine rotations and complete a community medicine/advocacy project.

Residents receive competitive salaries along with benefits, including moving/relocation reimbursement, an education allowance, professional fees coverage, complimentary meals, parking, insurance plans, preventative health programs, and various types of leave.
