Temple University Hospital Program

Temple University Hospital's Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Lewis Katz School of Medicine offers a comprehensive educational experience with broad subspecialty exposure. The program is focused on preparing residents for their careers, subspecialty training, and practice in academic or community settings. With a goal to support residents in acquiring the knowledge required for outstanding clinical care in obstetrics and gynecology, the program emphasizes personal and professional growth in a supportive environment.

Application to the program requires submission through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participation in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The application deadline is October 1st. The application requirements include a completed online application, current CV, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, dean's letter, and transcripts for applicable examinations. Residents at Temple University Hospital experience a structured program that includes rotations through all subspecialties and increasing responsibilities as they progress. Over 2,500 deliveries occur annually, providing exposure to a broad range of pregnancies and gynecologic cases. The program has a robust teaching schedule, including weekly teaching rounds, Chairman's critique conference, and grand rounds, along with opportunities for involvement in research projects. Residents have a supportive and engaging environment, participating in various departmental and social events.

Additionally, the program offers an Urban Bioethics Track with the opportunity to earn a Master's Degree in Urban Bioethics during residency, focusing on the social determinants of health, cultural humility, and ethics in health.
