The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo is a four-year training program that includes a preliminary internship year as a prerequisite. The program meets the requirements of the American Board of Radiology and the ACGME. Clinical rotations are divided into four-week blocks covering various radiology subspecialties to provide a broad exposure.

During the first year, residents focus on interpreting plain films, cross-sectional CT imaging, and ultrasound. In subsequent years, the curriculum expands to include advanced techniques such as body MRI, nuclear medicine, and breast imaging. Residents may attend the American Institute for Radiographic Pathology course in the fourth year and have opportunities for mini-fellowships or research in the final year.

The residency program is largely based at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC). The University of Buffalo offers competitive salaries with full benefits coverage. Applications are accepted through ERAS for those interested in applying to the program. The program aims to prepare residents for independent practice and offers a diverse clinical experience.
