The University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville offers a four-year, ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency program. The program aims to develop the highest quality perioperative consultant physicians prepared for private practice, academic medicine, or advanced fellowship training. The program has 16 Anesthesiology resident positions and was founded in 2011.

Residents gain experience from rotations at various facilities, including a Level I trauma center, a children's hospital, and a proton therapy center. The smaller size of the program allows for flexibility in scheduling tailored to residents' career goals. The program offers clinical experiences spread across four training years (PGY-1 – PGY-4).

The extensive curriculum covers all areas of Anesthesiology and its subspecialties, meeting requirements set by the ACGME and the American Board of Anesthesiology. The curriculum includes fundamental clinical skills rotations, clinical anesthesia experiences, advanced clinical anesthesia experiences, weekly academic day schedules, conferences, and didactics. Residents have access to simulation training and opportunities to engage in research projects.

Benefits of the program include resident stipends, insurance, paid leave/sick days, access to electronic library resources, and an annual academic allowance for membership fees, board exam costs, and meeting costs. The program offers a supportive environment with dedicated and knowledgeable faculty committed to resident education.

The program is known for its unique features such as a small class size allowing for individualized training, a fully integrated categorical program offering anesthesiology experience from the start, extensive trauma center experience, a focus on quality improvement and patient safety training, and living in Jacksonville with its various attractions.

The application process opens in September, with the deadline for submitting completed applications on October 8th. The program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and only sponsors J-1 visas. Applicants are required to have their ECMFG certificate by the time of application. The program looks for first-time pass success on USMLE or COMLEX exams with average scores for incoming residents available on the website.
