Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Program

The Family Medicine Residency Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine offers a well-rounded curriculum that combines ambulatory and hospital-based experiences. The program aims to train community-minded physicians capable of practicing in various settings. Residents have access to unique opportunities, including community/underserved care experiences, health equity training, outpatient procedures, point-of-care ultrasound training, as well as fellowship preparation in areas like sports medicine, OB/GYN, and geriatrics. The program values individual growth and offers ample elective time for residents to explore their interests.

Application Process: - Application Deadline: October 16, 2023 - Application Requirements: Completed ERAS application, USLME Step I and 2 or COMLEX 1 and 2 (for DO Medical Students), MSPE, Medical School Transcript, ECFMG Certification (for Foreign Medical School graduates), Personal statement, Three letters of recommendation, and additional creative material submission.

The program is open to sponsoring J-1 visas for foreign medical graduates and requires passing the USMLE and ECFMG exams.

The curriculum is designed to provide a breadth of experiences through a balance of academic and community training. Residents have the opportunity for full-spectrum primary care training, exposure to various subspecialties, and ample elective time to tailor their training to their interests. The program emphasizes hands-on procedural training and offers diverse educational opportunities through conferences, seminars, and one-on-one interactions with faculty. Residents are also actively involved in departmental committees and receive guidance from faculty advisors throughout their training.
