The Willis-Knighton Health System Internal Medicine Residency Program aims to train physicians to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to diverse communities in Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas. They seek to graduate physicians committed to community service and who are board-certified. The program accepts 10 categorical residents annually. Eligible applicants must be expected or recent graduates of US/Canadian medical schools or international medical graduates listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. They prefer candidates who graduated within the last five years, have recent clinical experience, and possess a valid ECFMG certificate by Match week.
The application requirements include the common application form, MSPE, medical school transcript, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, USMLE/COMLEX transcripts, and Step 2 CK/COMLEX Level 2 CE scores before Rank Order List submission. Step 2 CS/COMLEX Level 2 PE are no longer required. Interviews are conducted between October and January, and invitations are sent via email. Programs benefits and conditions are communicated during the interview.
The program boasts a 4+1 rotation schedule, emphasizing continuity clinic experiences. Residents participate in various core rotations and engage in comprehensive didactic sessions covering multiple clinical disciplines.
