Aultman Family Medicine Residency Program Overview

The Aultman Family Medicine Residency Program, affiliated with Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), has a rich history of over 50 years in training exceptional family physicians. The program emphasizes comprehensive, evidence-based, and compassionate patient-centered care.

Aultman Hospital is a 1,032-bed facility in Canton, Ohio, recognized for its outstanding clinical care and is noted as one of the Best Regional Hospitals in Ohio by U.S. News and World Report for the year 2023-2024. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and has received the maximum accreditation following its latest review. Curriculum and Training

From the outset in the PGY-1 year, residents manage their own patient panel in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This experience is supplemented by hands-on procedures, including joint injections, skin procedures, gynecological care, osteopathic manipulation therapy (OMT), and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).

Residents also engage in weekly half-day didactics alongside comprehensive community engagement, which includes providing preventive care at the Stark County Health Department and working at the Hartville Migrant Clinic to care for uninsured individuals. The program boasts a remarkable 100% board passage rate for the American Board of Family Medicine over the last 12 years.

Research and Academic Opportunities

The program is situated within a medical education department that encompasses six residencies and two fellowship programs, offering enriched opportunities for academic growth and research.
