Baptist Memorial Medical Education (Oxford) Program

The Internal Medicine Residency program at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi is designed to offer a comprehensive training experience for physicians. Based in Oxford, Mississippi, the program prides itself on its unique setting and the unopposed training environment. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) awarded continued accreditation to the program in September 2023, ensuring that residents receive high-quality education and training.

The residency program began accepting its first class of residents in July 2021 and successfully reached its full complement of 36 residents in July 2023. Training Environment

Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi features state-of-the-art facilities, including a newly built 217-bed hospital and enhanced services such as an advanced ICU, expanded emergency department, surgical suites, and outpatient services. The hospital is known for providing care to over 250,000 residents in the northern third of Mississippi, giving residents ample opportunity to engage in meaningful patient interactions within a growing medical community.

Curriculum

The curriculum is structured to provide a blend of intense learning with a focus on overall well-being. This includes daily didactic sessions that draw from the American College of Physicians' (ACP) resources, covering topics such as morbidity and mortality, quality improvement, and focused continuing medical education (CME). Residents also participate in case presentations to enhance their evaluation skills and clinical reasoning.
