Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Program
Internal medicine - Memphis, TN | ACGME Code: 1404700001 | NRMP Code: 2330140C0
The Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Internal Medicine Residency Program offers a diverse training experience focused on caring for patients with chronic diseases reflective of the health disparities in Memphis and the Mid-South region. The primary teaching site is Methodist University Hospital where residents are guided by experienced faculty. Residents participate in a continuity clinic every other week to manage a panel of patients across the care continuum.
The program provides individualized educational experiences (IEE), allocating six months for residents who have attained or are progressing towards milestone competence. This allows customization towards outpatient, hospitalist, or subspecialty interests. The three-year schedule includes rotations in emergency medicine, ICU, and outpatient settings. The PGY1 year does not involve overnight in-house call.
Educational activities include a weekly academic half-day on Thursday afternoons featuring faculty-led lectures, board review sessions, Grand Rounds, and journal clubs. Residents receive benefits matching full-time employees, free parking, a meal stipend, three weeks of vacation annually, and malpractice coverage under an SVMIC policy. The PGY1 salary is $60,216.
Applications are accepted through ERAS, and the program participates in the NRMP Main Match. Methodist Healthcare – Memphis Hospitals (MHMH) is an integrated healthcare system with a long history as an ACGME clinical learning environment. The institution supports over 300 residents and fellows and recently transitioned to begin its internal medicine program as an academic community hospital, welcoming its inaugural class in July 2022.
