Detroit Medical Center (Sinai Grace)/Michigan State University Program

The Detroit Medical Center Sinai-Grace Hospital/MSU-COM Family Medicine Residency Program is based in northwest Detroit, Michigan, and focuses on serving a vulnerable population in the city. The program emphasizes strong academic standards, exposure to a wide range of pathologies, and clinical experience at the DMC Grand River Health Center. Residents have the opportunity to work within the nationally recognized DMC hospital system, gaining insight into the diverse medical needs of Detroit's population.

The program consists of three PGY levels with rotations across various specialties, emphasizing hands-on experience and academic development. Residents are required to complete a Quality Improvement Project and a Scholarly Activity. The program participates in the NRMP Match and only accepts applications through ERAS. They do not offer pre-match positions.

Application requirements include a CV, three letters of recommendation, medical school transcripts, USMLE transcripts (or COMLEX for DOs), a personal statement, and additional criteria outlined by DMC Graduate Medical Education for IMG applicants.

For IMGs, ECFMG certification before the rank order list submission is preferred. USMLE Step 3 is preferred but not required, along with one year of US clinical experience. TOEFL exam completion is required if the primary language of instruction in medical school was not English.
