Curriculum and Rotations

The curriculum at HFMH is designed to provide a robust education through a combination of clinical rotations and didactic learning. Each resident participates in:

  • Clinical rotations lasting approximately one month each
  • Weekly didactic conferences
  • Monthly journal clubs
  • Administrative seminars
  • Research seminars and participation in scholarly activity

Rotations for PGY-1 residents begin with essential training in Emergency Medicine and other specialties, including ICU, Pediatrics, and Anesthesia. PGY-2 residents transition to increased responsibilities with specialized rotations in Cardiac ICU and Trauma Surgery, while PGY-3 residents take on supervisory roles, enhancing clinical efficiency in managing the emergency department.

Educational experiences include regularly scheduled didactics focusing on core content, flipped classrooms, quality improvement reviews, and problem-based learning assessments. Participation in simulated patient scenarios is also integrated into training.
