The Kansas City University GME Consortium, in partnership with HCA Healthcare, offers a variety of ACGME-accredited postgraduate training programs across five states with a mission to provide quality training programs focused on developing competent practitioners and leaders in medicine. The KCU-GME Consortium aims to enhance existing GME-sponsored programs, expand graduate medical education in underdeveloped communities, and support the recruitment and retention of minorities underrepresented in medicine.
The program features a Resident/Fellow Forum where residents and fellows can communicate and exchange information about their educational and work environments, with dedicated leadership for organizing the forum. Additionally, a confidential reporting form is available for residents and fellows to report concerns about their training programs.
Residents and fellows are required to engage in scholarly activities, such as publishing articles, participating in presentations, and research projects. The program also offers faculty development opportunities and requires faculty engagement in scholarly activities to support residents and fellows.
To address resident well-being, the program offers resources such as the Employee Resource System providing counseling services, an Employee Assistance Program for emotional wellness, and tools like the Well-Being Index for self-assessment. Additionally, burnout surveys and focus on the CLER program areas ensure continuous improvement in patient safety, healthcare quality, teaming, supervision, well-being, and professionalism.
The program emphasizes faculty and resident engagement in educational initiatives, including online modules and participation in Grand Rounds. Poster printing services and various forms are provided for residents and faculty members to facilitate their activities within the program.
