STEP 230Fellowship Focused

The McLaren Oakland Transitional Year Residency Program focuses on educating residents to be ethical, professional, competent, and knowledgeable in caring for patients in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. The program aims to provide residents with educational goals that encompass core competencies, including medical knowledge, patient care, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice.

Applicants are required to apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The program uses both objective and subjective criteria for applicant selection, in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and Americans with Disabilities Acts regulations. Invitations for interviews are extended on a rolling basis as applications are reviewed through ERAS.

Residents must hold an appropriate training license consistent with state and local requirements during their training. Applicants unable to obtain a State of Michigan license are ineligible for McLaren GME programs.

Available electives in the program cover various medical specialties, and the curriculum emphasizes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of patients while focusing on the six core competencies.
