Trinity Health Oakland/Wayne State University Program

The Trinity Health Oakland Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program is an ACGME accredited program with 16 positions available, accepting four residents per year. The program is located in Pontiac, Michigan, at a 497-bed community hospital which serves as a Level II trauma center with a Level III NICU.

The program aims to develop competent physician scholars who can provide evidence-based care to diverse communities. Preference is given to recent medical school graduates who have graduated within the last two years and passed the COMLEX/USMLE Step I and II on the first attempt. Applicants must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents, as the program does not sponsor visas.

Residents at Trinity Health Oakland have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of procedures including traditional laparotomy, laparoscopic, robotic, and vaginal procedures. They also have exposure to a Level III NICU for infants of all gestational ages. The program offers structured didactics focusing on academic and clinical excellence, with a strong emphasis on research and quality improvement projects.

The program affords residents access to research opportunities through the Trinity Health Oakland Research Department, with support available for manuscript preparation and IRB submissions. Residents get to work with a diverse group of faculty members with expertise in various sub-specialties of obstetrics and gynecology.
