The MercyOne Des Moines Psychiatry Residency Program in Iowa is a four-year ACGME accredited program with four residents at each postgraduate level. The curriculum includes rotations in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, neurology, internal medicine, geropsychiatry, emergency psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, chemical dependency, consultation, and community psychiatry.
The program emphasizes providing a superb education to develop residents into strong physicians and professionals capable of delivering comprehensive, continuous, and coordinated health care.
Residents have the opportunity to rotate through various services, gain experience in TMS therapy, participate in integrative medicine curriculum, and engage in a comprehensive didactic curriculum focusing on evidence-based medicine, case-based learning, and psychopharmacology, among others.
The curriculum includes 16 weeks of inpatient psychiatry, rotations in neurology, emergency psychiatry, family medicine, pediatric psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, research, substance abuse, psychiatric consult, community psychiatry, and more. There are also elective opportunities in various psychiatric specialties.
The program is led by Dr. Sasha Khosravi, the Program Director, along with a faculty dedicated to teaching and supervising Psychiatry residents.
