The Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida Program offers a fully ACGME-accredited Urology residency program that was founded in 2011. The Division of Urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center is affiliated with Columbia University in New York and led by Chairman Dr. James McKiernan. They have ten full-time faculty who are also faculty members at Columbia University.
Residents at Mount Sinai Medical Center have the opportunity to participate in various didactic sessions weekly and are prepared to excel in urology in-service exams and American Board of Urology exams. The residents are exposed to various fields in urology including urologic oncology, robotic surgery, complex endourology, female urology, pediatric urology, and more.
Residents are provided with ample clinical exposure and are expected to manage all aspects of outpatient urology, including performing office procedures and managing post-operative patients. The academic faculty is actively involved in clinical research, and residents are encouraged to initiate and complete research projects during their training.
Clinical rotations mainly occur at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach and Miami Children's Hospital. The program also offers a sub-internship rotation for interested students to gain first-hand experience.
Application requirements for the program include at least three letters of recommendation, transcripts/diploma, and USMLE scores. The deadline for receiving all applications is October 1st. Upon receipt of completed applications, the selection committee reviews all materials and offers interview invitations via email.
