The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is a three-year ACGME accredited training program. It prides itself on fostering a learning environment based on academic excellence in both teaching and research.

Program Overview

The residency offers comprehensive training with rotations primarily at Mount Sinai Medical Center, a hospital equipped with a dedicated emergency department. Residents will have the opportunity to learn from a well-qualified faculty comprised entirely of residency-trained and board-certified or board-eligible emergency medicine specialists. Interaction with residents from other specialties enhances the educational experience.

Critical training experiences also include trauma rotations at Ryder Trauma Center, as well as Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric ICU rotations at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, one of the most recognized pediatric trauma receiving facilities.

Each year, the program accepts eight new residents, maintaining a total of 24 across the residency years. Impressively, the program has recorded a board pass rate of 100% over the past two years.

Curriculum

The curriculum for the three-year program has been meticulously designed to cover all core elements outlined by the ACGME Emergency Medicine Residency Review Committee (RRC). The core curriculum encompasses various rotating specialties within emergency medicine.

Education includes weekly conferences every Wednesday focusing on key emergency medicine topics, alongside procedural labs, morbidity and mortality reviews, and interprofessional consultations.

Facilities and Rotations

In addition to Mount Sinai Medical Center, residents will benefit from training at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Ryder Trauma Center. Special Application Requirements

Applicants should note that a minimum score of 220 is required on both USMLE Step exams, or a COMLEX score of 500 or above. Additionally, candidates must have graduated from medical school within the past five years.
