HCA Florida Healthcare/Kendall Hospital Program

The HCA Florida Healthcare/Kendall Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program is a three-year, fully ACGME-accredited residency established in 2016, designed to train competent, well-rounded emergency physicians. With a mission to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders, the program is committed to the care and improvement of human life, providing residents with individualized learning experiences and comprehensive educational opportunities.

Program Structure

Each year, the program accepts 12 categorical residents, totaling 36 positions across three years. Strong educational backing is provided by Florida International University, enabling access to advanced resources like a state-of-the-art simulation center, library, and additional academic facilities. The curriculum emphasizes a mixture of clinical experience and mandatory academic conferences throughout the residency, ensuring progress through continuous evaluations and examinations.

Curriculum and Training

The structured curriculum includes weekly didactic sessions every Wednesday, ensuring dedicated time for education that covers core emergency medicine topics, small group discussions, case conferences, and grand rounds,1. Research Opportunities

Training Sites

The primary training site is HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, which functions as a Level I Trauma Center and is a tertiary receiving center for numerous hospitals in South Florida. The residency features a well-rounded exposure to a significant patient census, exceeding 90,000 annually, and includes exposure to various specialties through rotations and opportunities for elective experiences.1

Ultrasound Training

Ultrasound training is a vital aspect of the residency.
